Bel'Uva is a distillery created by Hans Van Daele, a flavour and extraction technologist and wine lover. Since 2017 he has been exploring the possible valorisation of grape residues in Belgian viticulture.
The idea for Bel'Uva came to life when he met the passionate winemaker Prof. dr. G. Houben at his Hoenshof estate in the GOB Haspengouw wine region. A fruitful collaboration resulted in the first development of a range of top-quality Belgian alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with its mature grape varieties, originating from the microclimate and the marl and silt hills of southern Flanders.
By using the grape marc on the Belgian hillsides, Bel'Uva is committed to sustainable viticulture that minimises the ecological footprint. They produce both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks. The alcoholic beverages are produced in an artisanal still, while for the non-alcoholic beverages, they apply their own know-how and vacuum distillation facility, in order to preserve the complex and unique aromas of the grapes and the flavours of their exquisite range of plants.
